When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers - as we do - and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

Even though there are more sides to internet marketing than just email marketing (permission based), email has been the foundation that our business sits on.

There is huge push right now among internet marketers to sell you software that will automatically get you backlinks to your site through RSS feeds or by doing auto submissions of articles. Don’t fall for it. Automating these tasks will most surely throw a red flag to Google and they will most likely eventually ban your domain from their search listings. Not that I’m against RSS feeds or article marketing, in fact I use them both, but if you’re going to spend your hard earned money on something to boost your search engine results at least spend it on a good SEO course.

Contrary to what you may have been told it is not that difficult to get on page one of Google through simple search engine optimization. As a matter of fact over a longer period of time you will get to page one and stay there much longer if you do it through SEO than thru any tricky backlink maneuver. SEO is not as hard as you think. Will optimizing your site be enough to get you to page one in a very competitive market like “weight loss”? I doubt it, but it’s not hard to get to page one for longer tailed keywords. And I don’t mean 4-5 word phrases that no one ever searches for, but 2-3 word phrases that get search anywhere from 5,000 to 20,000 times a month. Doing SEO can get you on page one for them, no problem.

Most people believe that search engine optimization is some complicated project that is constantly changing. This simply isn’t true. The same honest SEO that got your site on page one a year ago will still be working 10 years from now. Proper keyword selection, choosing the right domain name, making your page title keyword rich and relevant to your content and naming your pages correctly will always work.

Auto generating keyword heavy content that makes no sense to the reader will not. The engines have become way too sophisticated for that. No, instead trying actually writing some good content, keeping it focused on your topic and use tags like the “heading” tag and the right anchor text for internal links in manner that would make sense to real live human and the search engines will love you. It takes no less time to write good content as it does to try and implement some search engine manipulation plan that isn’t going to work for long. And a site with quality content will stay on top of the listings much longer.

Is there work that needs to be done up front? Of course. Doing keyword research to find out what search terms people are actually typing into the search engine boxes is a start. Once you’ve determined that it is actually quite easy to get a keyword rich domain name and build your content around what people are searching for. Remember it doesn’t do you any good to rank high for terms that no one searches with. Keep that in mind next time some guru gives you examples of sites that they have on page one. See if anyone is actually looking with those search phrases.

The rest of the work involved is mainly just writing to inform the reader. Creating valuable content on your site that keeps them there. Search engines pick up durations of visits, so make sure you have a site worth looking at. Creating a site as a source of information with the right keywords and you can be on page one of Google in no time.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a set of practices that a website owner uses to help improve a site’s visibility and effectiveness in search engines. A website must cater to search engines, for the most part, because a vast majority of people use search engines to find what they’re looking for. If a business wants to attract more visitors to its site, the business should pay attention to SEO as part of the design and structure of its website.

Some companies and websites don’t want to use SEO practices on their websites. Not everyone wants to have their websites appear in search engines, and some could care less if their website addresses appear at the top of search engine results. For example, if a company creates a website that’s for employees of that company only, they generally want to keep this website a secret and only publicize the site to employees of that company. In that case, the company won’t use SEO techniques on that website. If a company puts a website online with secret information that requires a password, they also won’t want the search engine to find this information. Company websites, or any other kind of website that thrives on lots of visitors, however, will want to use SEO to increase the number of people who visit the website.

There are several methods used within SEO, the most important of which include keyword optimization and HTML tag optimization. These methods, along with high usability—defined as how useful a site is to the visitor—make up the practices of SEO. Each of these practices serves as one way that SEO practitioners can utilize to gain visitors through search engines. Alone, these practices might make modest gains in page rank, but together, the various SEO methods can dramatically affect traffic. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees for increasing traffic due to the increasing popularity of SEO practices and changing search engine technology.

Search engines are notoriously secretive about their page ranking algorithms and policies. Some information is public knowledge and some is pure speculation on the part of SEO and search engine experts. There are plenty of reasons why search engines would want to keep ranking information secret. First, consider how search engines functioned a decade or more ago and to understand what can happen when people exploit search engine algorithms. Unscrupulous marketers would use the weaknesses of search engine ranking methods in order to place their pages at the top of search engine rankings, even under keywords that had nothing to do with the website itself. Today’s search engines have beefed up their formulas, so to speak, and eliminated many of those problems. However, there are plenty of people willing to take advantage of any weaknesses in search engine algorithms, which is why this information isn’t always available to the general public.

There are many people that practice SEO for a living. Large companies that rely heavily on their websites, or companies that exist only online, often employ in-house SEO experts that can tailor a page to be friendly to search engines. Smaller websites can hire SEO consultants to go over and help optimize the client’s page for search engine usage. Even amateur webmasters can benefit from using SEO techniques in the pages they build. Using SEO techniques can be as simple and as complicated as the website owner wants depending on their time and budget constraints. There’s no definite “right” or “wrong” way to fully optimize a website.

There are also scams associated with SEO. Some consulting companies will make a big fuss about how SEO works, and claim that they can dramatically or even magically improve a site’s page ranking and visibility within a search engine. SEO is not magic. These companies can’t guarantee dramatic results because they’re not likely to happen right away, if at all. Some of these companies simply deal in providing an inferior product. They might guide a customer through spamming practices or not even give the customer an adequate service. Websites should be vigilant about the SEO consultants they hire for this reason.

Ultimately, having an expert in SEO is helpful because improving search engine visibility is a cost effective and useful way to gain visitors. With enough learning and practice, almost anyone can become an SEO expert. That’s what makes the expense or the trouble worth the hassle. So many people use search engines that not maintaining SEO standard may hurt a site’s ability to get visitors.

SEO Tutorial -- WebBizIdeas

Floating a website is not sufficient to give you recognition on the web. There are as many as 450,000 websites for the viewers to choose from. Even the number of relevant websites for his or her search could go into thousands. Therefore it is necessary that viewers feel the presence of your website and it does not fade into obscurity. For accomplishment of this important task you would naturally resort to search engine optimization, often with press release distribution.

People commonly think that the name PageRank refers to the ranking of a web page. That makes sense, but the truth is it is named after Larry Page, who developed it at Stanford University.

Not all links are counted in the calculation of PageRank. Votes from known link farms or other penalized sites are not counted. Sites that link to penalized sites are penalized themselves. But there is no penalty for an inbound link from a penalized site.

It is better to have the keyword in the domain name. Consider the Sony camera example. We can have many websites such as forums and camera forums, they might say I bought the Sony handycam and the Sony website is sony.com. They’re shooting a whole lot of links all over the internet and because that is a big brand name there are going to be hundreds of websites all linking back to the Sony website, all saying Sony. So there’s a pretty good chance it is going to rank for Sony camera. I’m sure people will be linking to Sony camera. So the Sony website is probably going to rank number one.

That’s why we&’re going to have a better chance if we go for the longer tail keywords. If you remember back to the way Google works, Google will rank your website based on a few things. First, what the web page says, so you want to do all the on page optimisation and second what other people say about your website. We might be able to rank for Sony camera handycam xpf250 hybrid because there may not be too many people linking to the Sony website with that keyword. But I think we could try and rank for that because we could build a page that optimized specifically for that keyword and then also via a link to that to say exactly what we want it to say.

When a business owner plans to put up a website, it should be automatic that search engines will have to be considered in order to ensure its maximum visibility. But while everybody in the development team can aim for creating the best design for the site, there is a tendency to overlook search engine friendliness as a key component of effective web design. A designer may come up with a good layout and general content presentation and good navigational structure, but one thing that must never be neglected is to make sure that the site has all the opportunity it can get to be able to land in search results with a good ranking. Although web design is one thing and site optimization is another, they can be incorporated into each other in developing a site so that it actually gets to enjoy the best of both worlds. The first thing that will be important in terms of site optimization is, of course, creating content that will get it noticed by search spiders. Meta tags are definitely the most important to focus on. Web page titles must bear relevant keywords and meta tags for the content must likewise be keyword-rich but definitely not stuffed or the whole site could simply be banned by the search engines. These things are crucial in the chances that a page could or could not be picked up by the search spiders and this will, of course, affect whether or not search results relevant to the site will be promising. While there could be many different styles and approaches to creating the best web designs, it is important to keep the site focused on a specific center of information. This means that if a businessman has different businesses, it will be wise to create a separate website for each. When there’s too many things in one , this becomes a disadvantage in terms of its being indexed by the search engines. Spiders generally work by picking up keywords in order to come up with a gist of what the site’s content is all about. With this gist, a search engine is able to detect if this site must be displayed on the results each time an Internet user makes a relevant search. When a site has too much areas of information in it which aren’t even related to each other, there is practically a very slim chance, if any at all, that it will turn up in search results. Ease of navigation is definitely a key component of a good web design but may not necessarily affect a site’s search rankings. Still, for the satisfaction of site visitors who will be the final arbiters of site performance, it will always be ensured because of its great value Search engine optimization marketing has never been this popular and effective nowadays and while anyone can attempt to do it, nothing still works like a reputable seo agency in making sure your site gets all the web visibility it deserves.

What is SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) anyway? In short it’s the work required to get your site to the top of Google, Yahoo and all of the other search engines. In order to clear this up, there is no ‘BIT’ of SEO you can do. Search Engine Optimisation requires research, constant attention and lots of ongoing work. search engine optimisation (SEO) is a very broad field, with various aspects encompassing a variety of disciplines ranging from web design and development to public relations. Search Engine Optimisation is about creating value for the end user so perhaps the next question when discovering “what is SEO” would be how do I improve search engine ranking on Google and what SEO services do I require?

Firstly, choose your keywords, choosing the right keywords is essential to attracting the right traffic to your website from the search engines. There are various kinds of keyword research tools - both free and paid which may help you in selecting the best keywords for your website. A general principle in keyword research is those keywords which are most widely searched are also the most competitive. However this does not mean you should target the most popular phrases because these could potentially have too much competition and you may find yourself languishing several hundred pages down on Google with little or no chance of attracting traffic.

Once the right keywords have been identified the optimisation process can begin. The backend content of the website needs to be altered and spruced so as to raise the keyword density of the site. The pages need optimization should then be modified by preparing the optimised content. You would think that words matter when you are adding something and they do. Search engines couldn’tread graphics, they only read words. The Page Title, the description tag and the content type are the meta tags you need. Even the keyword tag is redundant in 95% of search engines today, even though it’s worthwhile adding in as good practice, just in-case they start to use it again, as it’ll be a hell of a job going through every page on your site to add individual keyword tags. It is advisable that you speak with an expert, or employ an SEO company to do this part for you, as this is where many web site owners do go wrong.

Once completed it is time to focus on increasing your page rank and link building against your main keywords. Link popularity is one of the key factors major search engines use to rank web sites. This makes link building a complete part of any effective search engine optimisation strategy. On a basic level, the more and higher quality backlinks you have linking to your website the higher your website will rank in the search engines. A dedicated link building campaign should aim to obtain highly relevant links from a wide variety of sources. The websites providing links should be relevant to your business, varied and reliable sources of information.

Once your page rank increases you should reestimate your keywords as you should be able to target more generic, high traffic keywords with a higher page rank. PageRank is Googles way of deciding a pages importance. It is important for it is one of the factors that determine a pages ranking in the search results and how high up they come in the organic search.

So there you have it, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to a search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page’s content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it’s a good match for a query.
